How do you know if your child is gifted? How are they
tested? What services are available to them? What is twice -exceptional? So
many questions for parents to consider when determining the best routes for
their students. Natasha Straayer, Director Personalized Learning for DCSD will
help parents navigate the ins and outs of gifted and talented students.
Center for Bright Kids Early SAT / ACT Testing Western Academic Talent Search Program
This is a national program for students in grades sixth thru
ninth. They can take the ACT or SAT test
while in grade levels that are earlier than their peers. The kids go to the area high schools and sit
next to high school kids taking the same test.
Why do this? It is a great way
for your child to practice the test and
compare their scores to others in this top five percent of students. It is an amazing motivator and confidence
builder and significant score gains can be shown. The grades are sent to only the family and
CBK and not to any colleges or universities.
Dr. Amy Rushneck, Executive Director, CBK will present.
